Who is the character in the frame for you? Do you pay attention to the nuances? Why is the man wearing these particular glasses? Why is the tie tied a little obliquely? Why is the jacket plaid and does not fit perfectly, as if it is from someone else's shoulder? Why is the girl wearing a purple wrap dress, and her mother is in a bright blouse with large flowers? For me, as a costume designer, the most important thing is to give the viewer a character whose clothes are one with him. And the viewer understands from a half-glance who is in front of him.
I paint sketches for specific figures, develop a silhouette based on the characteristics of the hero, analyze color schemes in detail so that the character lives not only on his own, but also is one with his environment. I create costumes from scratch, sew them myself or with my team, alter, repaint. For me, the final complete image, including hair, makeup and accessories, is infinitely important.
In 2015 I graduated from the Moscow Art and Industrial Institute (MHPI) with a degree in fashion design. Already in my last year at the institute I had a working clothing brand, which was shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Moscow.
In 2018 took part in the filmmaking process for the first time (it was a short film) as a costume designer. Since then, I have been combining fashion design with work in film and advertising industry. And believe me, I love my job!
